每当春回大地，被人誉为“花中西施”的杜鹃花，就透着盎然的春意，怒放在游人云集的公园或山林中，令人赏心悦目，心旷神怡。
杜鹃花不是很高，还不及膝盖。远远看去，像一团燃烧的火焰，几乎看不见叶子，又仿佛一群穿着红色衣服的孩子蹲在那里。走近看来，才可看见它小小的尖状叶子，上面还有小小的绒毛，十分可爱。再细观花朵，像一个个小喇叭，中间有着数根花蕊，十分的娇艳，像是窈窕淑女向世间展示着闭月羞花的容颜……看着这些，不免有一种如痴如醉的感觉。
杜鹃又名映山红，泛指各种红色的杜鹃花。其实杜鹃花不是只有红色的。杜鹃花是中国十大名花之一。正如著名诗人白居易的一首诗写得非常好：“闲折二枝持在手，细看不似人间有。花中此物似西施，芙蓉芍药皆嫫母”“回看桃季都无色，映得芙蓉不是花。”
杜鹃的小枝摸上去粗糙，枝干颜色是淡绿色的。叶面是深绿色的，摸上去非常光滑，没有一根绒毛，十分舒服，软绵绵的。
绿叶衬红花，在阳光的映衬下十分美丽、妩媚动人。远远看去那杜鹃花像一群彩蝶在空中翩翩飞舞。那花儿像人用一张张红色的纸做成的，看上去格外鲜亮，那种灿如云霞的红艳，格外引人注目。走在青石小径上，微风吹过，看着火一样的杜鹃花一起跳动，心情特别舒畅。此时，我会想起一句歌词，一个场景：“若要盼得哟，红军来，岭上开遍映山红……”浩浩荡荡的红军队伍开来了……
我爱这美丽的红杜鹃。
